Robert Lowery Sr., former mayor of Florissant, passes away at 78

Lowery was born and raised in the City of St. Louis. He leaves behind his wife, their five children and eight grandchildren.

The former mayor of Florrisant passed away at the age of 78 Monday, Ferguson Mayor James Knowles III confirmed.

Robert Lowery Sr. was first elected as the Mayor of the City of Florissant in 2001 and re-elected in both 2003 and 2007, writes City of Florissant website. Before serving as mayor, Lowery worked in several high-end positions in law enforcement, including the Florissant Chief of Police, Commander of the Major Case Squad, Chairman on the Board of Governor for Law Enforcement, Commissioner on the Missouri Council on Criminal Justice and on the Governor's Commission on Crime.

Lowery also served as the President of the Missouri Police Chiefs Association, as well as members of other law enforcement boards in the State of Missouri.

Lowery was born and raised in the City of St. Louis. He leaves behind his wife, their five children and eight grandchildren.
