ST. LOUIS — The Saint Louis Zoo has put in place new security measures this fall in an effort to make guests feel safer.
A new security screening system called the Evolv system is at both the North and South entrances to detect concealed weapons as guests enter, according to the zoo's website. It's a system already in place at more than 800 schools, hospitals, stadiums and venues worldwide, including at St. Louis CITY SC's Energizer Park - formerly known as CityPark - and Mercy hospitals.
Guests with large bags, strollers, wagons, coolers, wheelchairs, backpacks and purses may also be subject to a bag search after passing through the automatic detection system, according to the zoo's website.
While visiting, you may also see explosives and weapons detection dog Speedy patrolling the zoo grounds.
