ST. LOUIS — The Saint Louis Zoo was nominated for two categories in USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards 2024.
Once again, the attraction is in the running for the title of "Best Zoo" in the nation.
Located in Forest Park, the zoo is acclaimed for being free to the public and home to more than 600 species of animals, according to USA Today. The zoo was also praised for its award-winning Sea Lion Sound exhibit, which "combines a stellar exhibit experience with educational presentations and shows."
Last year, the Saint Louis Zoo was named the eighth-best zoo in the U.S. by USA Today readers.
The zoo's River's Edge, home to hippopotamuses, cheetahs, rhinoceroses, Asian elephants, Andean bears and more, was also nominated for "Best Zoo Exhibit." River's Edge is a "mythical waterway" that shows visitors how wildlife, plants and people interact on four continents, according to the zoo's website.
According to USA Today, a panel of experts nominate their 20 top picks in each category, but a public vote decides the top 10.
