STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. – Southbound Interstate 55 was closed for several hours past exit 150 due to an accident involving 15 cars, including a firetruck responding to the scene.
The pileup happened as a winter snow storm swept through the area and slicked roads.
MoDOT urged drivers to use extreme caution or find an alternative route while crews worked to clear the interstate.
Both lanes of I-55 reopened around 6:30 p.m.
