Schnucks recalls ground beef sold at Belleville, Illinois, store

Schnucks said the recalled ground beef may contain pieces of plastic.

BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Schnucks issued a recall for ground beef sold on Sunday at a Belleville, Illinois, store due to potential contamination. 

According to a press release from Schnuck Markets, Inc., Schnucks Fresh Ground Beef, produced and sold from 12:45-5:45 p.m. Sunday at its 800 Carlyle Avenue store, is being recalled. The products, with a sell-by date of Sept. 16, may contain pieces of plastic. 

Affected products include: 

  • 90/10 Ground Lean Beef
  • 80/20 Ground Chuck 
  • 80/20 Ground Beef 
  • 73/27 Ground Beef 

No other stores have been affected by the recall, according to the grocery chain.

As of Monday morning, there were no reported illnesses or injuries connected to the recall.

Customers who purchased ground beef during the timeframe should return the meat products to the store for a full refund or exchange. Those with questions can contact the Schnucks Customer Care team at 314-994-4400 or 800-264-4400.
