SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. — The lockdown at Scott Air Force Base has been lifted after security personnel apprehended a male suspect.
Around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, security at the base received a call from the Velda City Police Department in north St. Louis County about an Air Force veteran who was believed to be armed and "possibly dangerous," the base posted on Facebook.
Security forces took the man into custody and he will be turned over to local authorities.
"We are proud of our Defenders for their professional response to ensure the safety of our people and the installation," the base wrote.
The situation happened in the dormitory area on base. People in the area were advised to "stay put" while the situation unfolded.
