Some Ill. neighborhoods under boil order

(KSDK) – Some customers of Illinois American Water are under a boil order after a water main break and drop in water pressure.

Godfrey, Grafton, Elsah and a part of Alton have been affected by the boil water order, according to a company spokesperson. State Street north of West 9th Street, Alby Street North of 17th Street, Henry Street North of 20th, Oakwood West or Buckmaster and Humbert Road North of Randolph are affected in Alton.

Immediate downtown Alton, St. Anthony's Hospital and Alton Memorial Hospital are not affected.

The water main break occurred on McInerney Avenue in Alton, according to the spokesperson.

The boil order also affects Jersey County Rural Water, Brighton and Fosterburg Water District.

According to Illinois American Water, a boil water order is normally in effect for 36 hours after water service is restored.
