A south city fire Saturday morning leaves 1 dead

Police are not sure what caused the fire.

ST. LOUIS — Firefighters battling a blaze in south St. Louis Saturday found a body.

The St. Louis Fire Department requested St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department to investigate the fire, in a house on the 7900 block of Water Avenue.

SLMPD's Bomb and Arson Unit is investigating the death. The victim's name was not released. They are being referred to as John Doe.

Police are not sure what caused the fire. The cause of the victim's death has not been reported.
