Woman dies early Thursday in St. Ann house fire

The woman was pronounced dead at a local hospital, a battalion chief said.

ST ANN, Mo. — A house fire in north St. Louis County left a woman dead early Thursday morning.

Crews were called sometime around 1:30 a.m. Thursday to a burning home in the 3200 block of Krem Avenue in St. Ann.

Community Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Kevin Murray said the fire started in the front living room of the home, and a woman, possibly in her 60s, was found not far from there.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where she later died, Murray said.

A neighbor told 5 On Your Side the woman was a disabled veteran.

The home sustained major damage, and fire and arson investigators were called in to determine the cause of the fire, Murray said.

As of Thursday morning, officials had not shared the woman's age or identity.
