ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — Police in St. Charles County are taking an extra step to make sure people with special needs have safe and productive encounters with police at their homes.

A post on the St. Charles County Police Department Facebook page said the department is giving away stickers that can be displayed on a resident's home or car to make sure officers know that a person inside might not be able to communicate with police.

The stickers include warnings about people who are deaf or have autism, Alzheimer's, dementia, epilepsy, a seizure disorder or diabetes.

Police said the stickers are available while supplies last and are limited to two per household.

If you or some you know needs a sticker, you can stop by the station or submit your request to SCCPDCommunity@sccmo.org.
