ST CHARLES, Mo. — What's believed to be the world's oldest form of alcohol will soon be served at a brewery in St. Charles.
Interested drinkers can soon pick up some mead, otherwise known as honey wine, ambrosia, and the "drink of the gods," at the aptly named Mead Hall during the spot's grand opening on Saturday, June 15 from 4 to 9 p.m. at 2236 1st Capitol Dr. St. Charles residents may already be familiar with Mead Hall from their frequent appearances at the St. Charles Riverwalk Market.
"If you're familiar with Two Plumbers Brewery, this is their old location (go check out their new spot at 745 Friedens)," Mead Hall said on Instagram. "Speaking of Two Plumbers, we're purchasing their old brewery from them and will be brewing beer (and braggot) at this location."
The opening will have numerous meads, beer and cocktails available to patrons during the grand opening, along with empanadas served by TANGO Argentina Food.
The full drink menu to be offered at the grand opening can be found on the Mead Hall's Instagram post here:
"Our meads are crafted using several different varieties of honey sourced from small farms and certified wholesalers," Mead Hall said on its website. "We do not use any artificial flavors or extracts in our meads and only use a minimal amount of sulfites. Because most of our meads are unfiltered, some may appear naturally cloudy or contain a small amount of fruit or yeast sediment in the bottle."
