ST. LOUIS — Stalled by an attempt to privatize St. Louis Lambert International Airport, St. Louis aldermen finally passed funding for airport improvements.
"This process was intended to start years ago," St. Louis Board of Alderman President Megan Green emphasized Friday afternoon. "The airport privatization efforts derailed the plans that we were putting in place today. With that behind us, we are moving forward full steam ahead."
Full steam ahead, as long as Mayor Tishaura Jones signs off on it too.
Alderman Shane Cohn introduced Board Bill Number 47, which will fund capital improvement projects for the airport. If approved by Jones, the bill will give Lambert $650,400,000 towards upgrades.
Some of the projects outlined in the exhibits section of the bill include new maintenance facilities, upgraded HVAC, replacing old lights with LEDs, garage repairs and, of course, concourse renovations.
