ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Police Department will be recruiting 132 officers at the St. Louis Metropolitan Clergy Coalition monthly meeting.
Chief John Hayden and religious leaders said it’s important that the positions be filled to allow the department to fully protect the community.
“People have pointed to the church, (asking) what is the church doing?” Bishop Elijah Hankerson said.
“They have pointed at our elected officials. It takes all hands-on deck. We are a community. Being a community, we have to partner together and work together even if we disagree.”
The meeting runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be held at the United Way building 910 N. 11th Street. Anyone who wants to attend the meeting should park in the C9 garage.
