ST. LOUIS — A plane will actively be on fire at St. Louis Lambert International Airport on Saturday as part of a "full-scale exercise," airport officials said in a recent news release.

The training exercise will simulate a hypothetical accident in which a plane ingests a drone during take-off, the release said. There will be an "active simulated aircraft fire" during the training.

"To simulate a real emergency, the training will include role players," airport officials said. "During the exercise, surrounding municipalities and organizations such as Abbott EMS, Berkley Fire Department, Ferguson Fire Department, Maryland Heights Fire Department, Overland Fire Department, Pattonville Fire Department, Boeing, City of St. Louis Police and Fire Departments, St. Ann Police Department, City of St. John Police Department and Woodson Terrace Police Department will participate as mutual aid partners."

The training will reportedly begin Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and will run through noon. The drill will take place on the airport's west-facing side using runway 11-29.

The airport has conducted similar drills in the past, including a 2020 drill that it posted to its Facebook page. The previous drill can be seen in the below video:
