ST. LOUIS — Police officers crashed a vehicle near a St. Louis fire station Wednesday afternoon, the city police department's Real Time Crime Center said.

The crash happened near the intersection of Ridge Avenue and Shawmut Place, police said. The St. Louis Fire Department's Engine House No. 13 is located on the northeast corner of the intersection.

On Thursday, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said two officers were in the department SUV involved in the crash.

The SUV was going southbound on Blackstone Avenue toward Ridge Avenue with its emergency lights and siren activated, police said. While they were driving through the intersection, the driver of a Hyundai Tucson ran a stop sign at a high speed, and the police SUV was unable to avoid a collision.

The SUV struck the rear passenger panel and bumper of the Hyundai, police said, and the other vehicle continued for another 30 yards before coming to a stop against an electric pole.

No injuries were reported in the crash, and both the officers and the driver of the Hyundai declined medical attention at the scene.

This is a developing situation. This article will be updated with the latest information as it is released.
