ST. LOUIS — St. Louis police launched two homicide investigations Saturday morning. Two men were killed in two separate shootings. Minutes apart, both shootings happened around 12:30 a.m.
The first shooting killed a man near Evans and Vandeventer avenues.
After multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in that area, police officers were sent there to investigate. There, they found the victim on the roadway with several gunshot wounds in the back. Emergency Medical Services crews sent to the scene told police the victim was dead.
He was identified Monday as Jakhi Rainey, an 18-year-old from Ferguson.
The second shooting killed a man in the Tower Grove South neighborhood. Police were sent to the 4300 block of Beck Avenue after a 911 call reported a shooting in that area.
Police found 32-year-old Stephen Robinson with multiple gunshot wounds in a home's kitchen. EMS crews told police Robinson died at the crime scene. The suspect, a 48-year-old man, remained at the crime scene and turned himself in without incident.
Police collected ballistic evidence, a gun and a large kitchen knife at the Tower Grove South crime scene, a brief report from St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.
