Come 2019, Chesterfield Outlets will be no more — at least in name.
The outlet mall will be rebranded The District once The Staenberg Group (TSG) begins redevelopment in 2019. TSG acquired the 300,000-square-foot outlet mall, then known as Taubman Prestige Outlets, in April for an undisclosed price. TSG renamed it the Chesterfield Outlets at the time of its announcement.
“Our leasing team is currently working with some of the most desirable concepts and brands in the country,” Tim Lowe, vice president of leasing and development for The Staenberg Group, said in a statement. “The response to The District from prospective and current tenants is very positive.”
The firm plans to remake the property into an entertainment destination with shopping options, a food hall and possibly a movie theater or indoor skydiving feature. TSG owns the buildings but Taubman Centers will lease the land and gain a share of the property’s revenue above a specified level, according to a previous report.
