Parents at an Illinois school district are trying to figure out why their superintendent and others are being investigated.
It's happening in Staunton, which is about 40 minutes from St. Louis, in Macoupin County.
We have learned the superintendent, a principal and a teacher have all been placed on administrative leave, and we still don't know why.
"It's kind of weird. I want to figure out what's going on," said Jennifer Linzgens, a parent of a young student.
The Staunton Board of Education decided last Friday to take the action against the employees, saying it was in the best interests of the students and staff.
All three personnel, including Superintendent Rich Stempinski, are being investigated by the school's legal counsel. The investigation at this time does not appear to be criminal in nature.
Both the Staunton Police Department and the Macoupin County State's Attorney's Office tell us they are not involved.
The school district says day to day operations will continue and so will the mission of providing a safe and superior learning environment for students.
Linzgens says it's a little scary that there's an investigation going on at school.
"Because I don't know what happened and I am sending him to school and I don't know what happened with the teacher," she said.
