STE. GENEVIEVE COUNTY, Mo. — A man died at the scene of an early Saturday morning crash in St. Genevieve County, a brief crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
Peter Brandt, 48, was driving a semitractor-trailer on Interstate Highway 55's northbound lanes minutes after midnight when the 2020 Freightliner Cascadia left the roadway, traveling off the right side.
The semitractor-trailer hit a billboard sign and was severely damaged.
The crash happened near the 140-mile marker of I-55.
Brandt died at the scene around 90 minutes after the crash, according to first responders.
Brandt was also not wearing a safety belt, the crash report said.
