Strong storms blow through St. Louis area Sunday

Large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes will be possible after 2PM.

A strong cold front blew through the St. Louis area Sunday, bringing strong winds and hail in certain parts of the viewing area.

Reports of baseball-sized hail were coming out of Collinsville, and golf-ball sized hail fell at De Smet High School.

A wind gust of 58 mph was reported at Spirit of St. Louis airport. There were also a few rotations indicated by spotters and on radar, but no confirmed reports of tornadoes touching down.

Much colder air is moving in behind the front. Sunday's high was 79 at Lambert International Airport. Monday's highs will stay in the lower 50s. Temperatures should stay below normal for the coming week. Fall is back!
