SHILOH, Ill. — A 16-year-old boy was shot multiple times in the parking lot of a gas station in the Shiloh area Friday night, and police investigators have a person of interest who had prior knowledge of the shooting in custody, a Saturday morning statement from the Shiloh Police Department said.

The minor was shot while in a vehicle at Kings Mart at 1551 Hartman Lane. First responders responded to the shooting at 7:43 p.m., police said.

"After being shot, the victim exited the vehicle he was a passenger in, walked into Kings Mart and collapsed," the statement said. "The Shiloh Police Department and EMS responded and the victim was taken to an area hospital where he is being treated. The injuries do not appear to be life threatening."

Police investigators are searching for a dark gray Kia with heavy window tint.

The shooting is being investigated as an aggravated discharge of a firearm and was not a random act, according to police.

"The Shiloh Police Department has one person in custody [who] is not the actual shooter but had prior knowledge of the planned assault," the statement said.

Anyone with information about this crime should reach out to Shiloh Police Detective Justin Nollau at 618.632.9047.
