Teens save 5-year-old at Johnson's Shut-Ins

Two sisters are being called heroes after a trip to Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park this Mother's Day.

REYNOLDS COUNTY, Mo. – Two teenagers turned tragedy into a miracle on Mother's Day when they pulled a 5-year-old girl from the waters of Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park.

Ashley and Maddie Edmond took a trip to Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park with their family for Mother's Day. They were in the rushing water when Maddie said she felt something under the water.

"I latched on to this rock and then I realized something was jerking at my leg," Maddie said. 'I reached down and it was a little girl, so I pulled her up."

The sisters got the girl above water and onto dry land and then returned her to her parents.

Maddie and Ashley said they didn't need to give the girl CPR, but they were ready to do so because they were both recently certified.
