ST. LOUIS — The first ever UFL Championship game will take place at the Dome in downtown St. Louis, but after the Battlehawks were eliminated, fans are questioning what the crowd will look like without the hometown team on the field.
For thousands of fans who have attended a Battlehawks game, there’s nothing like catching a game inside the Dome with 30,000 fans.
“It’s amazing,” Jim Grindstaff said. “The atmosphere is great. The crowd is just on a different level.”
“It was a great turnout,” Landon Carroll said. “The crowd was electric. Even afterwards it just felt like the city was buzzing a little bit.”
It’s that energy that the UFL was hoping to capitalize when it selected St. Louis to host the first ever league championship game.
“This place is going to be electric,” Brian Hall said. “It’s going to be rocking.”
According to Brian Hall with Explore St. Louis, hotel occupancy rates are up 75% compared to this time last year and restaurants are expecting a 50% increase in revenue throughout the weekend.
“When we have fans coming in from Texas and Alabama it really is fantastic for the entire community,” Hall said.
However, Ticketmaster shows that tickets are still available in every open section of the Dome with lower bowl tickets reselling for as low as $10.
“We’re a sports town and people have shown up time and time again,” Hall said.
“A lot of people are coming from out of town to go, so maybe they’ll get 20,000 or something like that, but it’s not going to be 30,000 or 40,000,” Grindstaff said.
If you're interested in taking your family to the game, the UFL is offering family ticket packages starting at $15 per ticket.
