WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. — A Webster Groves police officer has been charged with sexual abuse after assaulting a female police officer, 5 On Your Side has learned.
Eric Davis, 37, was charged Friday with one count of first-degree sexual abuse. His bail was set at $20,000.
On Aug. 25, 2019, Davis ripped her shirt and aggressively shoved his hand down her pants, assaulting her, according to court documents.
“I believe that the defendant poses a danger to a crime victim because of the severity of the offense,” wrote St. Louis County Detective Serif Sadikovic in court documents.
The Webster Groves Police Department asked St. Louis County police to investigate because the case involved two of their officers, according to sources familiar with the investigation
The Webster Groves police department has not yet responded to a request for comment, so it’s unclear whether Davis remains on the force.
This is the second police department in the St. Louis area to have an officer accused of assaulting another officer so far this year.
5 On Your Side reported in March that four St. Louis police officers have been accused of sexually assaulting at least six women dating to 2010.
None of those officers has been charged.
Editor's note: 5 On Your Side is not naming the department in which the victim works to protect her identity.
