Wentzville girl dies from cancer, her dad shared on Thanksgiving morning

'We didn’t get the answer we wanted, but we stand firm in believing that God’s ways are far better than we could ever comprehend.'

WENTZVILLE, Mo. — A 9-year-old girl from Wentzville recently died after a 9-month battle with cancer, her father Doug Karrenbrock said Thursday.

PK Karrenbrock began complaining about pains in her back. Doctors later found she had a tumor on her spine.

Nearly 12,000 people followed PK's journey on Facebook since her diagnosis and the family gained an outpour of well wishes from strangers.  Even after her death, the support continued.

"She left this world peacefully as was so deeply yearned for in our hearts," Doug shared in a Thursday morning Facebook post in the "Prayers for PK" group.

In his post, he also shared that PK died Tuesday morning.

"As her parents, we could not be more proud of the strength, grace, and courage she displayed in her 9 short years, but specifically these last 9 months," Doug said in the post.

Even in their grief, PK's family exhibited faith that many in their Facebook group call inspiring. The Karrenbrock family has brought people together from all walks of life and while they mourn the loss of PK, they see the clear impact her short life has had on hundreds of people.

"We thank you all for every single prayer given as PK played a role in this world bigger than we will ever know in this life," Doug said.
