1 dead in Wentzville mobile home fire

After putting out the fire, firefighters found one person dead inside the home.

WENTZVILLE, Mo. — One person was killed overnight in a mobile home fire in Wentzville.

According to the Wentzville Fire Protection District, the fire was reported just before 1 a.m. Monday. Crews arrived on Lucille Street to find a mobile home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters made several attempts to get inside the mobile home from the front and back, but flames were shooting through the roof and it was just "too hot" to get inside. The fire was so hot that a tree next to the home was scorched, firefighters said.

After putting out the fire, firefighters found one person dead inside the home. The person's condition made it difficult to determine their age or gender, according to the fire district.

Fire crews were still investigating early Monday morning, but they believe no one else was injured.
