WOODLAWN, Ill. – An Illinois woman has been arrested in connection to a fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 64 near Nashville, Illinois in January.
On January 5, a Toyota Avalon was driving eastbound on I-64 in the right lane when a Cadillac CTS passed it and tried to merge back into the lane. The Cadillac hit the Toyota and caused it to veer off the roadway and crash into a tree. One of the passengers in the Toyota was killed and another suffered serious injuries. The Cadillac left the scene of the crash.
Illinois State Police arrested 26-year-old Caitlin Happach on August 7. An investigation found that Happach was the driver of the Cadillac at the time of the crash. She’s charged with two counts of failure to report an accident and one count of reckless homicide.
