ST CHARLES, Mo. — A St. Charles County woman anxiously waited hours last month to tell her husband about their $50,000 win.

The Missouri Lottery said that on Dec. 27, the woman won the lottery with a Quick Pick Powerball ticket purchased at a Circle K in Lake St. Louis.

“It said I had won but didn’t tell me how much,” she said. “So I thought I’d better check this out.”

The woman discovered she won by using the mobile app.

“I waited for my husband to wake up because he works nights,” she said. “So I had to sit on it for a few hours!”

Once her husband woke up and she told him, he said he didn't believe her.

“He was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding!” she said with a laugh.

In 2023, St. Charles County won more than $63.3 million in prizes, according to the Missouri Lottery. Retailers received more than $6.4 million in commission and bonuses, and more than 6.3 in proceeds went towards education.
