ST. LOUIS — The Cardinals are teaming up with Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance and Feeding Missouri by hosting the Home Run Against Hunger Food Drive.
The food drive will be before the Cardinals take on the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, May 26 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. in front of the Cardinals Official Team Store at the corner of 8th and Clark Street.
Fans who bring non-perishable food or money donations will receive a voucher for two tickets to an upcoming Cardinals game.
The donations will be distributed to over 1,500 local food banks located throughout Missouri.
The total amount donated to this cause will be announced at the end of the event on Sunday.
The Cardinals suggest donating items such as canned meat, soup, fruit or vegetables, boxed or bagged pasta or rice, boxed crackers, peanut butter and jelly, snack bars, etc.
The food drive is also looking for diapers, baby formula, toilet paper and other general hygiene products.
There are nearly one in five people in Missouri that receive emergency food assistant every year and all three organizations are hoping to reduce that number with the support of the community.
