EUREKA, Mo. — A couple in Missouri became $50,000 richer after they bought a ticket with specially selected numbers.
The couple, living in Eureka, bought the ticket at a Wayside gas station, Missouri Lottery officials said in a press release on Thursday. When the numbers were drawn on Sept. 16, the couple was shocked.
Four of the five of the white ball winning numbers, including the Powerball number, matched what the winner specifically asked for, officials said. The winner said he picked the numbers because they related to his family.
Players in Jefferson County won more than $40.2 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, officials said. More than $4.7 million in Lottery proceeds go toward education programs across the country.
