ST. LOUIS – Police are investigating after a Dollar General employee was shot and killed during an attempted robbery Thursday afternoon.
Officers responded to the Dollar General at 4038 N. Grand Boulevard around 1:10 p.m. where a man was found shot to death. The man has been identified as 42-year-old Robert Woods.
The suspect went into the store and fired several shots, according to police. He fled the scene with a black and silver gun with what appeared to be an extended magazine. Anyone with information should contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.

The Dollar General family is deeply saddened and heartbroken over the tragic loss of our employee in St. Louis on Thursday. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with our employee’s family during this difficult time.
The store is currently closed until further notice and grief counselors will be available for area employees. Dollar General and its Employee Assistance Foundation are also looking for ways to best support the family at this time.
