ST. LOUIS — Shows like “Tidying Up” are inspiring people to declutter.
"Everybody that watches it is getting joy out of giving all their goods away and it's all ending up at Goodwill," one Goodwill customer said.
"2019 has started out strong. Were up about 20 percent in our donation counts, that’s about 15,000 drop-offs," said Mark Kahrs, the executive vice president of retail operations at Goodwill.
The massive retail space at 3728 Market Street is the end of the road for donations traveling from 43 Missouri Goodwill stores.
"This is one of our two outlets this one and the one in Bridgeton, where you can come in we rotate the floor two or three times a day," Kahrs said. "The goods here are sold by the pound, so you can get three four five items for a dollar."
Product that doesn’t sell here, may still find a home.
"What doesn’t sell here, we do our best to try to find other recycling streams for it," Kahrs said.
