ST. LOUIS — ST. LOUIS — The Missouri Department of Transportation announced it will close southbound Route 141 at Creve Coeur Mill Road at noon Wednesday in Maryland Heights due to flooding.
MoDOT closed the the northbound lanes Tuesday afternoon because of flooding as well so 141 will be completely closed in that area.
Earlier this week, floodwaters started rising on Route 141 at the intersection of Sport Port Road, forcing crews to close traffic to one lane in each direction. Since then, floodwaters have continued to rise onto the road.
The flooding is happening right now because of all the rain we’ve had recently. The floodgates that would normally drain the rain are closed, so it’s pooling like a bathtub, Meteorologist Scott Connell said. No levee has broken.
The suggested detour for northbound is taking westbound Route 364 to Route 94 or eastbound Route 364 to I-270.
Crews will continue to monitor water levels to determine if southbound Route 141 will close.
If so, southbound traffic will have to exit at Creve Coeur Mill Road. Suggested detours from I-70 will be exiting at Route 94 or I-270 to travel south. All closed lanes will reopen when floodwaters on Route 141 recede.
