MoDOT looking to make big changes to I-70

MoDOT hopes the changes will serve the region for 20 to 40 years.

ST. LOUIS – MoDOT is looking to make a change to a 40 mile stretch of Interstate 70 from Wentzville to the end of the express lanes in downtown St. Louis.

The project is expected to be split into five sections to address the needs on the part of the community, in which construction is taking place.

MoDOT hopes the changes will serve the region for 20 to 40 years.

They are looking at changing interchanges, adding lanes to I-70 and adding crosswalks over the interstate.

State officials say the main purpose for the I-70 project is to accommodate larger trucks and pedestrians.

Wednesday night is the second round of public meetings about the future project.

The first meeting will take place at O’Fallon City Hall. The second will take place Thursday at University of Missouri – St. Louis (UMSL).

Both meetings will gp from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
