U.S. futures higher after fifth week of gains

U.S. stock futures were higher Monday, following the fifth consecutive week of gains where S&P 500 erased its early 2016 losses.

Here’s where stock futures stood ahead of the opening bell:

Dow Jones: +0.7%

S&P 500: +0.4%

Nasdaq:  +0.4%

Despite gains, investors continue to monitor the U.S. economy's outlook as Fed officials plan to slow the rate of interest increases over concerns about the global economy. They remain wary about the overall drop in oil prices and the future of the Chinese economy.

 

In Europe, Germany's DAX is up .6%. France's CAC 40 index rose .4%. Britain's FTSE fell .2%

Japan's markets, which ended with a 1.3% dip at the end of the week, is closed for a holiday. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 0.3% to 20,739.02 while the Shanghai composite index rose 1.6% exceeding 3,000.

Benchmark U.S. crude dipped below $40 a barrel at the end of the week, sliding 76 cents or 1.9% to $39.44 a barrel. Brent crude fell 27 cents to $40.93 a barrel in London.
