WASHINGTON — Aldi is lowering the prices of more than 250 items this summer to help shoppers coping with inflation.
According to a press release, the popular discount grocery chain will reduce costs on seasonal must-haves including BBQ and picnic essentials, snacks and "better-for-you" foods.
“We don’t want food prices to hold people back from getting together with friends and family or spending time outdoors this season,” Dave Rinaldo, president of ALDI U.S. said in a statement.
Back in March, the company announced plans to add 800 of its discount grocery stores across the U.S. in a five-year expansion plan.
The majority of the price reductions, which the company estimates will save shoppers $100 million, will be in place through Labor Day.

Aldi opening more stores
Earlier this year, Aldi said its plan of adding 800 locations includes new store openings and store conversions. It's looking to add almost 330 stores across the Northeast and Midwest regions by the end of 2028. The company will also add more stores in southern California and Phoenix and enter new cities, including Las Vegas.
Aldi, which recently closed on its acquisition of Southeastern Grocers, said that it will convert a significant number of Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket locations to its format over the next several years.
