ST LOUIS- Are you willing to float in salt-water for 90 minutes to beat stress?
Believe it or not, hundreds and hundreds in St. Louis have been doing just that since early last spring.
"FLOAT STL" is the state of Missouri's first spa offering sessions in a sensory deprivation tank.
"We're open 12 hours a day, six days a week and we've been full since we opened," explained FLOAT STL owner Kevin McCulloch.
We asked three local people who describe themselves as "stressed out" and willing to give floating a try.
All three reported profound, sometimes dramatic, experiences while floating for 90 minutes in the tank.
"I got scared for a minute," says Paul Schaffrin a local contractor and father of eight. "I found myself all alone with myself and I thought for a minute 'I don't like myself as much as I thought I liked myself'. And by the end of the experience I realized that I do love myself. But I had to go full circle. It was very unusual."
"We are human-doings instead of human-beings," says Marcio Guzman with FLOAT STL. "Being in the tank allows you to be."
"Every single person will have a different float," explains Jacob Resch with FLOAT. "And every single person will have a different float every single time."
