O.J. Simpson's trial begins.

Thursday will mark the 20th anniversary of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. On Wednesday Dateline NBC aired a special report called "The People vs. O.J. Simpson: What the Jury Never Heard."

Here is a timeline of significant events in OJ Simpson's story:

1985
Feb. 2 – O.J. Simpson marries Nicole Brown

1989
O.J. pleads no contest to a domestic violence charge. He and Nicole separate.

1992
O.J. and Nicole divorce.

1994
June 12 – Nicole and her friend, Ron Goldman, are stabbed to death outside her condo in Brentwood, California.

O.J. leaves for Chicago the night of the murders.

June 13 – O.J. is questioned about the murders. Police say they noticed cuts on his hands.

O.J. is charged with the murders.

June 17 - 11 a.m.: O.J.'s lawyers convince police to allow him to turn himself in. O.J. does not appear, and the police department issues an all-points bulletin.

5 p.m.: O.J.'s friend and attorney, Robert Kardashian, reads a letter to the media written by O.J. The note sounds like a suicide note, and his attorneys ask OJ to surrender.

6:20 p.m.: O.J. is spotted in his friend Al Cowling's white Bronco. Cowlings is driving. A witness calls police. Authorities track O.J.'s cell phone and find the Bronco heading down Interstate 405. News helicopters join the chase and broadcast live coverage of the low-speed pursuit, which was watched by 95 million Americans. A police detective calls O.J.'s cell phone and records the conversation.

8 p.m.: Cowlings drives O.J. back to his home. O.J. goes inside for one hour before surrendering to police. Authorities say O.J. had $8,000 in cash, fresh clothes, a loaded gun, passport, family pictures, and a disguise inside the Bronco.

June 20 – O.J. pleads not guilty to murder.

October – Prospective jurors are interviewed for what becomes known as the "trial of the century."

1995
January 24 – O.J. Simpson's murder trial begins and broadcast on television for 134 days.

June 15 – O.J. tries on a blood-soaked glove found at the murder scene. It appears to be too small for his hand.

Oct. 3O.J. is acquitted of murder.

1997
Feb. 5 – O.J. is found liable for the wrongful death and battery of Ron and Nicole. He is ordered to pay $33.5 million in damages.

2007
Jan. 4 – A restraining order is put in place by a judge prohibiting OJ from spending a cash advance from a book O.J. wrote called If I Did It.

August – Ron Goldman's family wins the rights to publish the book O.J. wrote. The family changes the name of the book to If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer.

September – O.J. is arrested for an armed robbery at the Palace Station hotel in Las Vegas.

November - O.J. pleads not guilty to kidnapping and armed robbery.

2008
Oct. 3 – O.J. is found guilty of all charges related to the Las Vegas robbery.

Dec. 5 – O.J. is sentenced to 33 years in prison with the possibility of parole in 2017.

2011
A former friend of O.J.'s publishes a book claiming OJ confessed to the murders one night while they were drinking and smoking marijuana. One of O.J.'s attorneys denies the allegation.

2012
Oct. 9 – A judge agrees to reopen the armed robbery case to determine if O.J. should be granted a new trial.

2013
July 31 – O.J. is granted parole on some charges but will serve at least four more years on other charges.
