One tornado had 22-mile path from Weldon Spring to Ferguson

KSDK - National Weather Service survey crews report a 22 mile long path of damage across the St. Louis metropolitan area Friday night was the work of one tornado.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - National Weather Service survey crews report a 22 mile long path of damage across the St. Louis metropolitan area Friday night was the work of one tornado.

Touching down near Weldon Spring Heights in St. Charles county the tornado moved east-northeast through Harvester then pushed across the Missouri river into Earth City then moved on to Bridgeton and into Ferguson.

Estimated winds speeds as the storm pushed through southern St. Charles county were 150mph making it an EF3 tornado there. Damage in Earth City came from winds of about 130mph where the tornado was rated an EF2.

Survey crews are also looking at damage caused by a tornado in Roxanna, IL where an EF3 with winds estimated at 140mph damaged an industrial building Friday night and Gillespie, IL in Macoupin county where numerous homes and the high school had extensive roof damage from an EF2 tornado with winds near 115mph.
