Pat Maroon lives out childhood dream with Blues Stanley Cup championship

'It means the world to me to bring this Stanley Cup back to St. Louis. Being from St. Louis and being a Blues fan all my life. I can't wait to party with St. Louis.'

BOSTON — All of us have imagined it. In our driveway, or at our local rink or maybe just in our dreams. We've thought about lifting that Stanley Cup over our heads while proudly wearing the bluenote across our chests.

On Wednesday, Pat Maroon got to make all of our dreams his reality.

The pride of Oakville has sure made us all proud during this playoff run. Now he gets to claim the ultimate distinction: Stanley Cup champion.

Pat Maroon talks after Blues win Stanley Cup

"It means the world to me to bring the Stanley Cup back to St. Louis being from St. Louis and being a Blues fan all my life, and to put this jersey on and be with the boys, and I just can't wait to party with St. Louis," Maroon said after Game 7. "The community all came together, the city came together. We re-amped this city and I'm so proud of these guys."

Pat Maroon could've gone elsewhere this past offseason. He could've gone to a flashier team in a bigger city. He could've gotten more money. He could've gotten more years.

But he came home. I think things worked out pretty well.

"We did it Frank, we freaking did it," Maroon told our Frank Cusumano after Game 7. "We get to go home and bring the Stanley Cup home to a city that's been waiting 49 freaking years. I can't wait."
