Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong will be the Cardinals' representative at the 2019 all-star game in Cleveland.
DeJong was selected as a reserve for the national league team on Sunday.
The 25-year-old shortstop was one of the best players in baseball the first month of the season.
DeJong hit .342/.403/.607 in March and April with five home runs and 13 RBI.
His stats fell dramatically in May, where he finished the month with a .200 average.
DeJong has 13 home runs and 36 RBI on the season, and has continued to prove he's one of the most reliable defensive shortstops in baseball. He's seventh in the national league this year in defensive WAR.
This will be DeJong's first all-star appearance.
The all-star game will be played on July 9 in Cleveland.
