ST. LOUIS — Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are seeking to win as many states--and their electoral votes--as possible Tuesday.
Polls on the East Coast start to close around 6 p.m. Central Time. This map shows which states each candidate is predicted to win and how many electoral votes the state has. A presidential candidate needs 270 votes in the electoral college to become president.
This map shows the balance of power in Congress between Republicans, Democrats and Independents. At the top of the map, click "Senate" or "House" to see the breakdown. There is also a tab for U.S. governors. Missouri is one of 11 states electing a governor.
Every state gets a number of electoral votes equal to the number of Senators and Representatives in its Congressional delegation. Missouri has 10 electoral votes. Illinois has 19 electoral votes.
