Manchester annexation proposal shot down by unincorporated St. Louis County voters

The issue was on the ballot for current residents of Manchester as well as the people who live in the portion of unincorporated St. Louis County.

MANCHESTER, Mo. — After a four-year campaign, a proposition to add about 6,500 residents to the City of Manchester was voted down Tuesday night by residents in unincorporated St. Louis County.

Proposition A was on the ballot for current residents of Manchester as well as the people who live in the portion of unincorporated St. Louis County. The issue needed to pass by a simple majority in both Manchester and the proposed annexation area.

In the initial count of votes, a majority of city voters approved the measure, but voters in the proposed annexation area shot it down.
