The seat is held by U.S. Rep. Cori Bush. The Democrat sought re-election in a tough primary against St. Louis County Prosecutor Wesley Bell and former Missouri state legislator Maria N. Chappelle-Nadal.

In 2020, Bush pulled off a political upset and toppled the Clay family dynasty that represented St. Louis in Congress for half a century.

She faced three other Democrats who want to unseat her in Missouri's most Democratic district. On the Republican side, five candidates are vying for their party's nomination for November.
