MISSOURI, USA — The Missouri Democratic Party held a presidential preference election on Saturday.
Voters had four hours to cast a ballot in person. Results are expected later in the week.
President Joe Biden, Jason Palmer, Marianne Williamson, Dean Phillips and two other candidates were on the ballot. "Uncommitted" was also an option.
The race does not offer suspense. President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump have already clinched their party nominations and beaten their major competitors.
The primary races Saturday are still closely watched by insiders for turnout and signs of protest voters. For Biden, some liberals are registering their anger with Israel’s war against Hamas following the militant group’s Oct. 7 attack.
When will we know the results?
Votes will be counted, and the announcement will be made by Thursday, March 28.
Saturday’s primary is the Missouri Democratic Party’s first party-run presidential contest since the law took effect in August 2022.
