ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — St. Louis County voters are weighing in on several local issues during the 2024 general election in addition to the statewide and national races.
On the Nov. 5 ballot are multiple seats on the St. Louis County Council as well as propositions for allowing county councilmembers to nominate people from their district to fill vacancies on the Port Authority Board of Commissioners, authorizing the St. Louis County Council to retain its own legal counsel and creating a consistent date for when the county council, county executive, prosecuting attorney and assessor begin their terms.
Several municipalities have their own propositions on the ballot. Des Peres and Olivette have propositions that would ban marijuana dispensaries in their cities. Green Park has a proposition to impose an additional 3% sales tax on adult-use marijuana sales. West Overland's proposition would levy an additional 50-cent tax on $100 of assessed value to help fund the West Overland EMS and Fire Protection District. Berkley and Jennings have propositions on imposing a local use tax. Hillsdale's proposition would impose an annual fee of $50 on residential property to help fund sewer lateral lines.
