By a vote of 8-0, the Jennings City Council voted to impeach Mayor Yolanda Fountain Henderson Tuesday night, special counsel to the City of Jennings John Hessel said.
In February, the city council voted unanimously to hold the impeachment hearing after they received a five-page bill of impeachment from Special Prosecutor Paul Martin, and on Tuesday, they voted unanimously again to impeach Henderson.
Francine Dugger will take her place as a temporary replacement.
There will be a press conference Wednesday afternoon at 1:30.
In the five-page bill, Martin alleged 19 instances of misconduct over a 9-month period — including Henderson filing a frivolous lawsuit against the city.
Henderson said those allegations unfairly and inaccurately depicted her actions and decisions.
She said some of the council members were trying to use her first-year inexperience as a way to kick her out and become mayor in her place.
