St. Charles City-County Library considers branch closures, here's how you can weigh in

The library board of trustees will share which branches may be on the chopping block Friday, and the public will have a chance to comment.

ST CHARLES, Mo. — Friday, families in St. Charles County could learn the fate of their local library branch. Library leaders are putting some branches on the chopping block.

The St. Charles City-County Library board of trustees said it's looking at its future, and that's why the board is considering closures. In a statement sent to 5 on Your Side, officials say the board will hold a public meeting Friday evening, "to hear and discuss a presentation on the state of the library and review a proposal on its future strategic direction."

The special meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Middendorf-Kredell Branch in meeting rooms A and B. The meeting will be open to the public. The branch is located at 2750 Highway K in O'Fallon, Missouri.

5Oon Your Side got an early look at what'll be discussed in the meeting. Our newsroom is told, there will be a presentation of the 'state of the library.' The presentation will likely break down some numbers and include more info on things like the cost of maintaining the branches.
