ST. LOUIS — Former President Donald Trump took to social media Saturday night to throw his support behind Republicans in the primary running for governor.
Trump endorsed the three frontrunners for the August 6 primary election in Missouri.
"I can’t hurt two of them by Endorsing one so, therefore, I’m going to Endorse, for Governor of the Great State of Missouri, Jay Ashcroft, Mike Kehoe, and Bill Eigel," Trump's post on Truth Social read. "Choose any one of them - You can’t go wrong!"
John R. "Jay" Ashcroft, Bill Eigel and Mike Kehoe are the frontrunners in the race, according to recent polling. Darren L. Grant, Jeremy Gundel, Darrell Leon McClanahan III, Robert James Olson, Amber Thomsen and Chris Wright also appear on the Republican ballot.
All three candidates celebrated this coveted endorsement. The Ashcroft and Eigel campaigns released statements claiming the endorsement as their own.
Following last night's post, Eigel's team quickly celebrated the endorsement, thanking the former President's "kind words."
Ashcroft's campaign now says he is the "only candidate who has the endorsement of Missouri Right to Life and President Trump."
Kehoe also took to X to accept the endorsement.
Trump previously endorsed former state Sen. Bob Onder in the seven-way contest for the Republican nomination in Missouri’s 3rd Congressional District.
It's not the first time Trump issued a multi-candidate endorsement. In 2022, Trump endorsed "Eric" in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate. Former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens and Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt ran in the primary. Schmitt went on to win the primary and the general election.
