BELLEVILLE, Ill — The Red Cross is in dire need of the community’s help donating blood at the Jon Brough Annual Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday.
St. Louis has less than a 3-day supply of most blood types, according to organizers.
The blood drive honors a Belleville police sergeant who died in the line of duty in 2006.
He received 25 units of blood within his first five days of the incident. He had 32 surgeries, most of which required blood and blood product transfusions.
The blood drive is from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 8303 Concordia Church Road in Belleville.
